Your gun or rifle should be cleaned as soon as possible after firing. Boiling water should be made ready and the barrel flushed thoroughly to remove all fouling and salts.
Dry the bore completely with clean flannelette patches on a pull-through or cleaning rod, then apply a light film of good quality gun oil.
Wipe all external metal work with an oiled cloth, taking care not to soak the woodwork, and store the firearm in a dry, ventilated place.
